Pallet Truck Parts - Pallet stackers are a type of pallet jack that might be employed to stack, transfer and lift cargo positioned on a pallet that are far too burdensome for manual lifting. Mainly these mechanisms are used to load and unload cargo from trucks and to move pallets from one location to another within a warehouse of storage space. For the most part pallet stackers are manufactured of heavy duty materials to endure tremendous weights. Pallet stackers are sometimes referred to as pallet jacks. They can be operated from a seated, upright or walk-behind position. Pallet stackers are divided into manual and powered varieties.

Some basic parts comprise the pallet jack. There are forks that slide underneath a pallet, capable of moving and lifting it to a preferred height. The motor section or casing houses the gas-run, electronic or hydraulic apparatus that powers the appliance.

Commonly, pallet jacks come in walk-behind designs that are hand-powered. This means that they are moved by pushing and pulling the stacker into its desired location, while lifting the heavy pallets can be operated hydraulically making this chore a good deal easier. Using a foot pedal or handle raises the stacker's forks. Squeezing a handle or trigger returns the forks to the floor. These models of pallet stackers are perfect for lighter loads of up to approximately 1 ton or 907.18 kg.

Electric or gas powered pallet stackers can accommodate heavy lifting weights of up to 5 tons or 4535.92 kg. They are physically less demanding than the manual models thanks to the automated power to lift and let down the stacker's forks. These versions are steered by rotating the handle in a specific direction. There is a button on the handle that functions to raise and lower the forks. A throttle found on the stacker's grips moves the appliance forward and in reverse. This style of equipment is commonly known as a lift truck and is operated from a sit-down position.

Choosing the right version of pallet jack may be somewhat critical as designs will have varying lift functionality, along with varying fork widths. Some models of stackers might only permit two pallets to be loaded at one time, while other versions might be able to stack several pallets. Certain designs of these hoists feature an adjustable fork so as to allow the stacker to slide underneath pallets of different sizes and shapes. These models are helpful when a variety of kinds of pallets are used within a workspace.
