Discussions and discussions to working groups
With most municipal councils being inaugurated this week, we at Bullet News thought we would get help get the conversation started again.
And who knows, conversation may lead to discussions and discussions to working groups and ultimately to some substantive change in the governance model in our overly divided and overly governed part of the province.
The idea we are throwing out there - to start with anyway - is the concept of merging Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Wainfleet into one municipality.
Heck, since we're just talking, we will even go so far as to suggest a name for the new city: Erie Shores.
Has a nice ring to it. Inviting, friendly, it conjures up images of people relaxing at the beach, enjoying their retirement, raising their families away from the much faster pace of bigger cities like St. Catharines, Hamilton and Toronto.
Of course, these are things that already happen in Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Wainfleet, which share a common shoreline along the South Coast of Canada.
It is just that we do these things separately.
We do other things on our own, too.
